What browser do you use? I use Chrome and all I really had to do is: control panel > uninstall program> Ask Toolbar. Then in Chrome change your Homepage and tab settings.

I wish Oracle would stop bundling it with Java, because I know you have to read and click no, but you forget after so many months between updates. It should be a law where you have to have it set to "no I don't want," and you have to click it separately if you want it.

If you are on a windows PC you may want to download the free version of "Spybot Search & Destroy" version 1.6.2 (the old version). Update and it and run it. That should clear out registry issues. If it doesn't trying running it again as administrator, by right clicking on the icon and selecting "run as administrator."

Here is the download link: http://filehippo.com/download_spybot..._destroy/5168/

http://www.malwarebytes.org/lp/malware_lp_form/ - Great Software.

If the uninstall doesn't work, use the above.

It is an embedded loader now. First start msconfig. (run box and type in msconfig - enter)
Go to start-up and uncheck the box by ask.com or whatever program it came bundled with. Exit and restart computer. Then uninstall program/ask.com.

You can also use HiJack This http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

It will automatically clean up your msconfig which will remove the problem.

Thanks everyone. ReadRooster I can't believe I did not think about SpyBot. I have used it in the past with great success. It worked again this time, again thanks.
