Clowney signs deal with Puma

Yes, Puma. It defiantly wouldn't have been my choice but congrats to JD. I mean when's the last time you've seen a puma commercial or even bought a pair of Pumas?

I'm indifferent on his decision. On one hand, he'll be Puma's main guy and highlighted attraction which is great. On the other hand, I can't recall ever seeing a Puma commercial. I know I have, they're just not nearly as common as the other brands.

I do like the fact that he will wear Nike cleats because when this sponsorship was being discussed back at the combine, I wondered if Puma even made football cleats. I would have preferred him be Nike or UA.. Nike because of the reputation of the brand or Under Armour so he could rock those awesome super hero cleats.

If he becomes the star many expect, that will cause Puma sales to explode. No doubt that he a clause where he will get a big piece of that new money that his football celebrity created.

With his name, you can expect to see his face on a bunch of new commercials.

I have two pair. They are expensive, high end trainers. Very European.

More of a fashion statement than an athletic shoe.

I'm guessing we'll see Clowney paired with Usain Bolt in some Puma ads really, really soon.

After he's been in the league a few years he'll sign with one of the bigger brands. Happens all the time. It's an odd choice but I'm glad to see he's keeping things interesting for the most part

I believe Adidas and Puma were founded by two German, and nazi, brothers. Adi Das being a shortened name of one of the brothers name and Puma being the German word for a cougar.

Just a random bit of trivia

Would have thought JD learned his lesson about fan expectations and making promises after SEC Day last year. Apparently not.

You can't be serious, euro fashion & Puma?

European fashion shoes would be Balenciaga, Giuseppe, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada etc.

Puma is an acquired taste. As stated before, very Euro, but very serious. JD is gonna be getting paid ! More power to him.

Puma is Euro, it's a German company and have been in athletics for decades.

Unless you were joking, then I guess I read it wrong.

No, you said euro fashion. Pumas are not fashionable. You won't see them in voge or on a runway. Maybe in an eastbay book.

Nobody said that. Blue heron said they were European and more of a fashion statement, both fair statements because they are more of an "upper class" look, from what I recall. He didn't say they were runway or dress fashion..

Yeah...... Puma's not upper class. It's like Adidas, but not as great.
