QUARLES AND HAMPTON SHOULD HAVE STAYED

many of the analysts have written in both of their gradings, that they could have stood another year in college. i agree. this team would have been so nasty this year, if they would have stayed.

i'm so sick of players jumping ship early from this program, and going in the 5th, 6th or 7th round, if at all.

Best of luck to both guys.

I believe they both are good players, now all they have to do is compete to make a roster.

Kelcy just signed free agent deal with the giants.

Maybe Spurrier can use it as a tool to convince other players that just because the advisory committee says your 3-4th round talent, doesn't mean you will get drafted in the 3-4th rounds. It just goes to show that after rounds 1 and 2 the rest of the draft is a crap shoot as far as who takes what guy.

I mean some of the QBs taken in the later rounds I have never even heard of and I have a hard time believing that they where better overall talentwise than Connor. Some people just can't get over the numbers or the prototyes....

I think this should be used as an example to all those kids who haven't yet received their degree and they think they're the next big thing in pro football.

Kelcy and Vic are screwed unless they get free agent contracts. Even then, they will have a mountain to climb.

At least Connor has his degree and can easily consider coaching or playing in the Canadian league (or free agency).

Personally, I'd LOVE to see Connor be an assistant coach with HBC some day, but the clock will be ticking.

and on another note...

Did anyone else notice that Tajh looked downright PISSED to be going to the Jets so late in the draft.

He may get a "come to Jesus" talk from Rex before he sets foot in camp.

Might've been pissed at a Clemson coach or two that told him to stay

True, he didn't look very excited.

No use crying over these guys. What's done is done. They declared and it didn't work out they way they wanted.

Re: QUARLES AND HAMPTON SHOULD HAVE STAYED

It does suck that everyone seems to leave early from Carolina. Clemson was able to keep Boyd a year and was able to keep Beasley for next year. For some reason we have always had problems keeping someone for a 4th year.

Yea it would be great to say "Spurrier should tell this to all future juniors", but it won't change.

I don't think it's fair to judge these kids why they come out. Many of them have come from very difficult circumstances and the NFL gives them a lottery ticket they hope to cash. Did you see Clowney's tears Thursday night. He was crying because the NFL now gives him the opportunity to do something for his Mother that she could never do for him, financially. I can't imagine how wonderful it must make him and others like him feel.

Quarles made the right call. When he came out he was a 2nd round grade. He had an awful combine which destroyed his draft stock and then had that nightclub incident that threw up a red flag on top of that. If you have a 2nd round grade when the deadline to choose to stay or leave early comes around like he did you have to go and take the chance. Vic did make a bad call but he flat out just didn't want to come back and had his mind made up before the season started.

Wasn't Vic a RS Junior?

How many hours does he need to graduate?

Re: QUARLES AND HAMPTON SHOULD HAVE STAYED

I think it had everything to do with those handbags. "All the men are wearing them" they said.... "It'll be a good idea" they said... Until you're draft stock plummets. Look at Clowney, no man bag and he goes first overall. Leaving early was perfectly acceptable, it was just those handbags... Those effin' handbags.
