Known for his highlight hit, Jadeveon Clowney eager to make impact with Texans

Houston Chronicle

But when you ask Clowney to cut to the chase and explain what he finds most elementally fun about football, he flashes a million-watt smile that already makes him one of Houstonís most photogenic athletes ever. No, itís not the rooks, knights and pawns stuff that really gets his motor revving.
ďBig hits,Ē he said. ďIím all about hitting. I donít care who it is. I just like to make hits. Quarterbacks. Referees. Coaches. Anybody. I just like making hits on anybody. Thatís what I live for, big hits.Ē

Clowney intent on making family, Texans proud

Clowney's still figuring himself out. After his sharp pro day April 2, Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier alternately praised and critiqued the constantly hyped, once-in-a-decade defender. Clowney indicted himself, acknowledging he'd played off talent for "a long time" and saying he just needed someone in the NFL to teach him how to play football the right way.

"How great I want to be, it's up to (me)," Clowney said. "I know I'm going to be great and learn this game. I'm going to learn the game like I need to."

I hope the big hit mentality does not land him in trouble with the league.
