Godzilla

Was this guy anyone else's childhood hero? I'm going to see it this weekend when it comes out and I AM fully prepared for it to be odd, but the Matthew Broderick abortion was just insulting...it can't be that terrible.

I don't know why but this was my GO TO. Godzilla 1985, I knew by heart...even the weird Japanese dialogue and it's meanings

Re: Godzilla

i never saw the broderick crap. that wasn't Godzilla. they even made it a different creature in their cannon. I was never a huge Godzilla fan but I am stoked for this one

Re: Godzilla

That abortion was a large velociraptor in an iguana costume.

Re: Godzilla

The best thing about the Broderick one was the soundtrack.

Will probably wait until this is on DVD or netflix before watching it.

Yeah, nothing like Jimmy Page collaborating with Puff Daddy (or P Diddy or Sean Combs or Puff Daddy again...) on a classic Zeppelin song to make me lose my breakfast.

I don't particularly care for that song, but I do like the Jamiroquai, RATM, Ben Folds Five, Foo Fighters, and Silverchair tracks. Given the option, I'd much rather be forced to listen to the soundtrack than watch the movie.

It's like Christmas in May for me. I'm just going to say that if Godzilla does NOT breathe any atomic energy at some point of the flick I will be let down in a major way.

Curious as to why?

Would you prefer an inexplicable fire-breathing capability, over some pseudo-science explanation provided in the movie's narrative?

It's monster movie. I don't have to have cosmos explain how it is possible.

I want Godzilla to go nuke city on some other Monsters.

Way overblown. A few people on a message board said that Godzilla looked fat. That's it. Don't confuse a few people on a message board with all of Japan.

Why? And you'll be letdown.

A few people on a message board?

I suppose multiple national news outlets are only reading that one message board. Weird.

You lost me...I want to see Godzilla breathe fire or whatever it is. Yes!

Re: Godzilla

The Japanese are mad bc of this:

That's their guy. It's their history and culture. It's the embodiment of the hiroshima bomb. We can't understand all of their nuance in creating Godzilla...fact.

IF France tried to remake Patton we'd be PISSED...the french can't understand Patton and all his badassery...fact.

right now the bare is STUPID low for Godzilla, even though expectations are millions of little kids like I was afraid of driving over bridge near open water...bc what if Godzilla came?

Large wave coming? oh no!
That split second mental moment when a train horn blows AS it's wheel shriek...****!!!

I'm going to see it tomorrow and I'm both excited as well as a little anxious that it may or may not live up to what the 1984 movie and prior movies created for me as a little kid.

Screw TMNT and GI Joe...they already butchered those movies...

but Godzilla was my guy...please don't sack-kick my childhood like 1998.

Yeah, I forgot to type the word NOT in my earlier post. Sorry for the confusion.
