Ronald Patrick signs with Dallas Cowboys

Cocoa High graduate Ronald Patrick is officially a pro football player.

The right guard signed a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend.

Patrick was a two-year starter on the offensive line at South Carolina and helped Cocoa High win a state title.

Patrick excelled at South Carolina, leading a solid offensive line that consistently opened holes for the running game. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound guard made 25 career starts and was very durable, making 19 career starts in a row before an ankle injury.

Now he will join the Cowboys in hopes of helping them get back to the Super Bowl. And he won't have to wait long as minicamp begins Friday.

That's great to hear! Always felt bad that Ronald sort of got a bad deal early at USC when he had to burn his RS to come in for a snap or two vs Arkansas in 2010 while T.J. Johnson was getting his foot/ankle re-taped and shoe laces tied tighter. That cost Ronald essentially an entire year of playing eligibility. Glad to see despite that he was able to make the most of his opportunity, and hopes he continues to do so....

I wonder if on stuff like that we arn't held accountable on the recruiting trail. That a major program would not have a alternative for 2 snaps and thus so have to burn a kids RS is, in the big picture, unforgivable. I'm sure such happens on occasion everywhere but like many things it is the frequency of such on which we are judged.

Anyway we can consolidate these guys? Too many teams to follow on Sundays already. Anybody have a list I can print out to keep track of everyone? Sure would help.

Looks like RP is making me add the 'Boys to my list. Go get 'em, Big Man; loved watching you get after 'em.

REAL TRUTH: 'Big Man' is a term of affection we use to ID the young men upon whose shoulders dynasties are built. Guess that's why I thought it described you to a 'T'.

The Gamecock Football Wiki page has every player in the NFL and their respective team.

Dallas has 4 OGs signed in free agency.

The starting lineup for the offensive line in this rookie camp was Josh Aladenoye at left tackle, Andre’ Cureton at left guard, Ronald Patrick at center, Zack Martinhttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/...ticle-link.gif at right guard and Jarrod Pughsley at the right tackle
I pasted this from the Dallas Cowboy site. Ronald Patrick seems to be getting an honest look-at by the coaches. Many times free agents are signed just to have bodies to practice with. Most NFL teams start out with 75 players so 32 get cut. Patrick has made a good start. He definitely is not just an extra body to use in practices.

He has played center before. A tiny bit at USC and some in high school. He can play guard or center.
