Whitewater Rafting. Lexington, SC. May 17th. BBQ. Benefits Canoeing for Kids.
This coming Saturday, May 17th 2014 Canoeing For Kids in Lexington SC is having our annual fundraiser, Raft-a-rama.

What/who is Canoeing for Kids?

Canoeing for Kids( is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing free guided river excursions to children suffering from physical and/or mental handicaps as well as children from disadvantageous backgrounds, such as broken homes, low income, at risk and rehabilitation programs.

Over the past 21 years we've been blessed to have been able to put over 21,000 children on the water completely free of charge.

We have worked closely with Epworth Children's Home, Bright Start, Camp Kemp, Camp Adam Fisher, Camp Happy Days, Camp Can-do and Richland County Sheriff Department's Leadership Development camps to name a few of our most consistently served programs.

What about that Rafting Trip you were talking about?

Raft-a-rama( is a 7 Mile whitewater rafting trip on the Lower Saluda River that costs $50 per person that includes BBQ Pig Pickin with all the sides and shuttle back to our Headquarters.

There are rapids ranging between Class II and an aggressive line at the Mill Race rapid that can be a big Class IV.

Suitable for children of all ages, up to the parents discretion. Typically the younger that come are between 5-6 years old. Our older patrons are welcome as well. My mother will be making the trip this year at 64 years old.

There are 2 trips; 9:30am and 1pm.

Buffet style lunch is served from 11:30 and 1:30.

If you're on the early trip you'll eat when you return to CFK HQ from your trip. If you're on the second trip you should plan to show up early to claim your slot and eat your lunch.

As of now, seating is first come first served but we do not anticipate not being able to get everyone on the water.

We put in at our Headquarters in Lexington and we'll take out just below the Gervais St Bridge on the Columbia side of the Congaree river, just below the confluence of the Lower Saluda and Broad Rivers.

If you are unable to come out on Saturday, donations are always welcome and tax deductible.

We also offer chartered excursions for schools, businesses, churches and even birthday parties. The money we earn providing the trips to the general public goes directly back into allowing us to serve the children.
