Great rebounder, which we could use. He would have to sit out a year, but it would work well.

As a Tech fan, I hate this as he was easily the best player on the floor when he was healthy. Not that GT was going to be very good this past season anyway, but when he went down I knew it was going to be a long year.

As a USC fan, this guy would be a HUGE get. Excellent in the paint and he's actually a big man with some size, which we desperately need. If he comes here, it would definitely take a little bit of the sting out of him leaving Tech.

Yes, but I mean seriously going after him. (Do we have the people in place to make a push for this guy, and what are his thoughts on actually coming here?)

Former Georgia Tech forward Robert Carter is leaving the Yellow Jackets after starting 49 games in two seasons and South Carolina is a potential landing spot. Carter, a four-star player out of Shiloh High School in Snellville, Ga., told the Atlanta Journal Constitution, that he is open to whoever wants to recruit him.

Carter declined to identify interested teams, but said “a lot of schools” have called to express their interest. While speculation has centered on Auburn, Maryland and South Carolina, Carter said “none of those are definite. It’s still open right now.” He said the decision-making process “should be pretty quick.”

Tech is restricting Carter from going to UGA or any of the ACC schools. I noticed in CT's link that Carter is considering Maryland, but the Terps are getting ready to leave the ACC, right?

Yep, Big10. He can go to Maryland.

Carter would be a huge get for our program. We desperately need improved play at the 4, and we currently have zero post help on the way.

Former Georgia Tech forward Robert Carter has apparently enjoyed his visit to St. John’s. It’s reportedly possible that he could commit by the end of his visit Tuesday.
We might like it to a point that we don’t have to go anywhere else,” Winfred Jordan, Carter’s AAU coach, told SNY.tv Monday.
Jordan said that Maryland, South Carolina, Texas and Baylor are also options, although no visits have been scheduled.
Tuesday came and went and Robert hasn't committed to anyone of my knowledge.

Sounds to me the decision will be made by his AAU coach, instead of Robert himself.

If his AAU coach's words are any indication, the chances that he ends up at USC appear slim.

Oh well, if Carter doesn't work out then we need to quickly move on to another post target. We desperately need vastly improved talent in the post, and currently having zero incoming post players is extremely disconcerting.

Per @insidemdsports, the #Gamecocks are still involved w/GaTech transfer Robert Carter. 6'8 PF w/2 years eligibility.

If we could get both he and House, it would be a coup.

It would be so sweet to get both players.
