SEC tournament seeding

I saw where Alabama hung on for the win over Mississippi st.

That should give us the first round bye, correct?

Yep, we'll play the winner of #5 seed Mississippi St. and #12 seed Georgia Wednesday night.

This year, more than in prior years, I see our performance doing a lot for our seeding in the NCAA. If we play for the championship, win or lose I think that we get a national seed. Otherwise, it's iffy.

Tanner had the right strategy for Hoover; let the non-Omaha teams use their arms up.

Good God, that is one confusing bracket.

Need to win 2 games, and root like hell against Ole Miss... From everything I have read this morning, whoever does better between us should get that last national seed.

Since we play Wednesday, do we start Monty?

Not as confusing as the Big Ten Tournament bracket is drawn out.

Re: SEC tournament seeding

We had an identical conference record as MSU. Why are we 4th and they are 5th?

I found the answer...

Quote:

C. If two teams are not divisional opponents:
(1) Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 10 seed, if necessary).
(2) Coin flip by the Commissioner
.

So, both teams didn't play UF, but did play Ole Miss, the west winner. We were 2 of 3 vs Ole Miss, MSU lost 2 of 3 vs. Ole Miss.

Interesting tiebreaker. Glad it didn't come to a freaking coin flip to decide which team gets the bye.

I would like to see Holbrook stop that trend and get our team an SEC tourney championship!

I'd prefer a national championship.

That's just me.

That's a brainless and lazy response. Ask the players if they want to toss in the towel in Hoover. Ask them if Holbrook should piss away their opportunity to win an SEC tourney championship because some fan wants a national championship. There is no guarantee we make it to Omaha, so you better win the games you're faced with, and try to get some banners while you're at it. Some of you people scare me.

Lol, there's plenty of time between the SEC tourney games and the regionals. If we won in Hoover, how much time do you think we'd need for rest??? Holbrook wouldn't be burning any arms, that's just ridiculous.

IMO I think we'll start Reed Scott or someone else. Holbrook/Tanner have never been a fan of moving guys up consecutive weeks (Monty threw Fri vs Mizzou/Thursday vs Vandy/Wed this week ???), especially right before the NCAA Tournament.

As we know we haven't faired well in the previous SEC Tournaments, however I've got a good feeling about this one (probably the kiss of death). Mainly because I feel like this team isn't nearly as dependant on the HR ball as previous teams (YES HR's help).

Here's to nailing down a National Seed! :woo::woo::woo:
