If you are going to do a 'Basic Defense For Dummies" video, do a basic defense for dummies video.

He assumed too much and started using nicknames and completely lost me. I got through five minute and had no idea what he was talking about.

Bad video and I'm a Carolina graduate.

It didn't watch the video but I saw 3-4 defense that may get a look this year, but did this video have anything about a 4-3 or 4-2-5 that we have been running and what we will be running mostly this year as well?

Probably a 4-2-5 with 20% or so being a 3-4. haha no one knows

This could be marketed to the ACC.

I like it when I take the Mike and switch it with the Sam and unguard the reduction front and on the cue snap degrade to a 5-2 structure to engage the strong side tackle.

JungleBoi has a lot of responsibility in the underfront concept...

Lol, I can't believe people are still thinking we are going to be a 3-4 team.

Yeah, I feel like the coaches are only going to run a 3-4 scheme every now and then to get all of our LBs involved because we have too much talent to waste in that position. We have about 5 very good LBs that deserve playing time and could start for any team.

I know right.
I look it like I did the rabbit package...just a scheme to get a different personnel group out there for certain offensive packages.

Still a base 4-2-5...but with today's offenses you have to have some level of multi-formation. Probably can't run a rabbit since we aren't as stacked at speed rushers...we are stacked at LB...find a formation and scheme to get them on the field at certain situations.

Given the personnel we have on the roster currently, if we do use the 3-4 a good bit and are successful, then I think people would need to give Ward his due credit, because it's probably not easy to switch from one scheme to another and have success, and it would show his willingness to mold his defense to the talent. That's what the media folks have been praising Spurrier for ever since we became a more run-oriented, read-option offense.

Coach Mac has a video on the 4-2-5.

This is his 4-2-5, and not our 4-2-5.

Does anyone really have our 4-2-5 with the spur hybrid LB/S with it?

I like a 4-2-5 because you can be more flexible with it, and I think it helps against spread teams like Auburn because you can move that 5th overhang type player around to take away certain tendencies and rotate to all their different motions.

As long as the 5th guy is athletic enough. Damario Jeffery got abused because he was too stiff. The year he had to fill in for Antonio Allen against Arkansas was a nightmare.

Some might not want to hear it because its difficult to predict a player before he gets into the program and on the practice field but the 3-4 is pretty much a way to get BAW on the field this year. He should eventually take over the BOB linebacker.

agreed. if he has nearly the year moore had last year, this defense can be great. i have heard nothing but great things about this kid. i hope he lives up to the hype. being able to switch in and out of the 4-2-5 and 3-4 could be a nasty weapon for our coaches this season.
