Clowney signs card deal....

...and the hits just keep coming....from the hit !

Former Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has signed a card and autograph deal with Panini America. He was the No. 1 pick by the Houston Texans in the NFL Draft.
Its rare for a defensive player to generate so much excitement and capture so much interest from trading card collectors as Clowney has, Panini America CEO Mark Warsop said. It illustrates how dynamic and talented he is.

Not sure why this is surprising the Texans announced that shortly after drafting him......plus NFL DL can't wear low numbers like 7

It shouldn't be too difficult to beat Jim Brown's career.

I can't believe there's still people collecting cards these days since they're mostly pretty much worthless.

Hand them out to all the NFL quarterbacks so they know who is coming for them.

Anybody keeping track of his endorsement deals? 190 million with Puma, Wilson, now this...? What's the total value of the contracts?

The way the market of trading cards is going, the only cards that have value are those that have been signed and/or cards that have a piece of game warn material incorporated within the card. These two features make the card extremely rare and thus have value.

To your point, regular trading cards are worthless, but it was still fun when I was a kid trading cards with my friends.

I have cards that I probably couldn't sell for a penny but they're priceless to me. I love cards of former Gamecocks in their South Carolina uniforms.

I had a bunch of baseball cards in my attic. Stuff like Roberto Clemente and a couple Pete Rose rookies. My Mom through them away, unaware of the collectible value.

I make decent money buying and selling cards. Low serial numbered cards sell well, buying autographs of baseball players right after the draft and holding them until they do something is really good. Mike Trout draft autographs were about $15 each when they first came out, now they are several hundred dollars each. It can be big business if you know what you are doing.

The game worn cards aren't worth that much anymore unless they are low serial numbered. Companies put millions of them out now.
