I thought the OP was an answer to how to make a bad date go away.

You mean a "date kit"?

Nice...love the girl's voice. Old school!

Much better than the polished and over-produced pseudo country pop crap coming out of Nashville.

O' Be Joyful is pretty solid

This is what it would sound like if Loretta Lynn and Jack White got together...wait, that already happened.

Check out some of Carrey Ann Hearst's solo stuff. Strong.

Re: Shovels and Rope

Can't remember who it was that posted the video Gasoline by them
in the Water Cooler about a year ago, but I LOVED that song, and have
pulled up a lot more of their stuff on YouTube and listened to them from
time to time. Extremely pleasant change from what is being played on the
radio/TV and internet as modern music now (all genres). I could listen to
this kind of stuff all day. ... and the fact that they're from Charleston
makes it even better. Show the world how they do stuff down home !

Re: Shovels and Rope

I second Acock's comment. Cary Ann's solo stuff is great. The EP Are You Ready To Die? or the full length Lions and Lambs are a good place to start. Butch Walker produced a lot of it, I believe. Shovels and Rope's first album is also great (better than O' Be Joyful, if you ask me).

Both she and Michael are great people, too. I really liked Michael's old band The Films, as well. Speaking of Butch Walker, Michael co-writes a lot of the stuff on his solo albums. The album I Liked it Better When You Had No Heart is really good.

This is SnR doing a song from one of Michael's solo albums on Austin City Limits.

And some slightly different solo stuff from Cary Ann:

And, Michael's older rock band The Films (Charleston folks will remember them well).

First album

It was a coincidence that I was driving down a back road at the end of the day yesterday when "The Thread" (From Lions and Lambs) popped up on the radio. The song was perfect in the moment because the sun was going down and my windows were rolled down so the sky was filled with color and the air thick with the smell of flowers.

It was a good moment.

One of the main reasons I first joined Cockytalk back in 2005 was because
the small (but mature) member groups that were the beginning of the
site had some really awesome discussions of music in general. Gamecock
Sports and Music are the two major reasons I got into internet Message
boards to begin with.

People have different memory "triggers" that take them back to specific
moments in their lives. Good, Bad, Happy, ...Not So Happy etc... For
some people it's smell, some people it's phrases or word combos, or just
visual similarities. For me, it's Music. I can remember a lot of things that
were important in my life (or just outstanding "feelings") from music or
songs that were playing at the time. As I get older, I've found myself
playing certain songs from my MP3 or from YouTube to go back to those
moments that I want to relive for a few minutes. I also look forward to
creating new memories from music around me now.

Thanks for posting this.
