I am an avid tennis player and fan. I love playing on clay even though I have never had the privilege of getting on the red stuff.

Good for Fed and Venus winning an early round match but neither of them have much of a chance to win the French Open.

Djokovic should win the final, as well as Serena.

Isner has won his first two sets via tiebreaker.

Isner advances in straight sets.

Good for John. I will take any American win at the French these days.

American Robby Ginepri is on the verge of losing to Nadal.

Ginepri lost the first set 6-0, but had his chances in the 2nd before dropping his serve in the 7th game to go down 4-3. Nadal won the second set 6-3. Losing 4-0 in the third set now...

Ginepri has the game, just outmatched by Nadal.

Stan just dropped the third set and is down 2 sets to 1 to Garcia Lopez...

Stan is down 3-0 in the fourth. Garcia Lopez poised to pull off the stunner. Stan has too many unforced errors.

Stan down 5 games to love in the fourth.

Stan is out of the French Open. Loses the fourth and deciding set without winning a single game.

there goes that prediction.....GL played really well. Stan looked like he was trying to get the points over with too quickly and ended up being very inconsistent. I don't think Stan has played all that well since his Australian win.

So what made you think he would play in the final?

American Bradley Klahn is up 2 sets to 1 over Axel Michon.

Bradley is 23 yrs old and played at Stanford where he won the 2010 Singles Championship as a sophomore.

2nd seed La Ni is out of the French Open. She is ranked 2nd in the world.

Klahn couldn't hold it together and lost in 5 sets.

Steve Johnson was down 2 sets to 2 to a 19 year old french qualifier and stormed back to win the 4th set. he's up 3 games to 1 in the 5th set to be resumed today after play was suspended due to darkness. The winner of this match will take on another American, Jack Sock. Who went through to the next round after his opponent withdrew.

Johnson looks good when he's motivated, hopefully he keeps it up and becomes the face of men's tennis along side Isner.

Serena is on the brink of disaster. She lost the first set and is now down 3 to 1 in the second....Make that 4 games to 1. Serena is literally reduced to tears right now, even taking out her frustration on the ball girls...

Her opponent is Garbine Muguruza from Spain, 20 years old. She's playing the match of her life.

Venus was beaten today.

Serena loses another game. Down 5 to 1 in the second set.

It's over. Serena is out. That's the #1 and #2 seed on the women's side out of the tourney.

Ernests Gulbis is playing Djokovic right now in the semis.

Andy Murray plays Nadal later today.

Maria Sharapova is in the final against Halep of Romania.

Re: Roland-Garros 2014 French Open

Murray is going to have to play the most grueling match of his life to beat Rafa on the red dirt. If he wins it I would be very impressed even more so than his Wimbledon championship over Joker in three sets.

Who knows. If it was anyone but Joker I would say Rafa in a rout on clay.

Rafa on clay. He's deadly.

Rafa is ridiculous on Clay

Re: Roland-Garros 2014 French Open

Both are playing great right now, but I have to give the edge to Djokovic. Mostly on recent past performances.
Quote:

The second-ranked Djokovic has now won four straight matches against Nadal -- the previous three in straight sets -- and takes the psychological edge into the French Open, which starts next weekend.

"It gives me a lot of confidence winning against Rafa in the finals of a big tournament on clay," he said. "It's definitely a confidence booster. It's an ultimate challenge and I'm very happy with my game so far and hopefully I can carry that into Roland Garros."

Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam that Djokovic has yet to win, with his best result a runner-up finish in 2012. Nadal has won the French Open eight times.
