Ok that works. He is a big body with plenty of room to add size. He has a nice offer sheet so I guess it is a good pickup... Haven't seen any film on him though.

Yea, if the offers are true on Rivals and 247 he had offers from Florida, Oklahoma State, Memphis, Mississippi State, LSU, Auburn, A&M, Oklahoma and Kansas State

Awesome, that's a solid offer sheet if it's legit.

How is a person 6'8 and only 205 lbs (rivals)? That's way too skinny for any human being that size. Let's hope he really is 215 and somehow bulks up, although I've yet to see that scenario play out with any other basketball recruit we've picked up.

He is a probable academic casualty. There are questions whether or not he can get into school. Looks like we are going to take a flier on him (like we did with Thaddeus Hall).

According to BMI he is normal weight.

http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/...MI/bmicalc.htm

He is an athlete, so he needs to at least get to 230-250 range.

Then why do I read this quote from his coach, Don Green in "The Advocate" (link listed by OP above)...“James is ready to go academically, and it looks like he’ll have the opportunity to contribute early,” Green said.

According to Glenn Elrod he has qualified. Can't quote because of source of information but he is a late qualifer and will get in.

Great pick up.

Oh thanks doc. He's normal weight, sure. He's a healthy human being. There's just one problem…he plays down low against other healthy humans that weigh a whole lot more than 205/215. Don't come on here with that BMI garbage. He's not going to cut it in the SEC with that weight regardless of how normal his weight may be.

how much longer can we recruit on the fringe and expect to get anywhere against UK or UF?

edit - after watching some tape, he's a pretty good prospect. He's not gonna dominate the paint or anything, but he can actually defend pretty well and is pretty tough. I foresee some attitude issues perhaps, but maybe Frank will take him down a notch or five.

Can't complain about picking up a guy like this so late in the game.

He is over 220lbs now which at 6'9" plenty big enough for an incoming Freshman with his athletic ability. Kid is a very nice pickup and yes he is a late qualifier who fell in our lap. Martin has Coached this kid before.

That escalated quickly.

He looks overly aggressive in games and turns and taunts guys half his size. Look, I admit to judging him too quickly, but there is a reason he's committing so late. I am just assuming he's no Marcus Lattimore.

The competition in those highlights remind me of my days balling in the church league.

I hope you are right...but the admissions dept. have flagged NCAA eligible players before (Lorenzo Mauldin ring a bell).

An athletic big guy? I didn't know it was possible for us to have one of those? A welcome addition

He's actually a hologram. All of those highlights were fake.

Same trick here:

Looks like the type of height we need, and some offensive skills as well. Hopefully he won't be too much of a project for us, and will develop quickly. I guess this concludes this class for us....
