Regional hosts playing early game

Just looking through the field and noticed that a couple regional hosts are taking the early game......

Virginia 2pm
LSU 3PM

Who decides when the regional teams play? The host?

Advantages of taking the early game?

Just thought this was noteworthy....... thoughts?

Longer break between game one and game two.

Ok..... then why doesn't every team do it?

I think any time advantage you get, you may lose sweating your @$$ off in the field.

Another possibility is the normal chance of evening t-storms. Get your game over and let the 2-3 seeds worry about rain???

Maybe they like the idea of a Friday night game to keep a consistency for the players who normally pl y on Friday night. Also easier for the home crowd to make a night game.

This. That stadium will be packed at 7:00, but wouldn't be at 3:00. Our home field advantage is through the fans and the numbers. Maryland may be the only team that has played in front of a crowd that big all year...I like the move to play at night with a crowd than players play in the heat with fewer fans.

Virginia and LSU always choose to play the first game when they host. I think Virginia mainly does it because of the rain. Charlottesville is a very rainy area. LSU could play their game at 8 in the morning and still have 10,000 fans out there, so I assume they do it for the extra rest between day 1 and day 2. I'm glad we always go with the second game.
