SEC non-division opponents through 2025

I ran across this and haven't seen it posted yet. There are some very good match ups in the near future with LSU and Bama coming to Williams-Brice.

Two thoughts:
  1. Thanks for posting this. I had not seen the schedule either.
  2. I hope the SEC either adds a 9th game conference at some point or removes the permanent rival. I think it's ridiculous that we don't play LSU until 2020 (outside of a championship matchup).

They come to our place next year. That is one of the games I am looking forward to most; time to beat those tigers like we do the upstate variety.

We're more likely to see the 9th conference game. They will not remove the permanent rivalry altogether, because then Auburn-Georgia and Alabama-Tennessee wouldn't be played every year. The other option would be to only have it in place for those two games, and let everyone else have two rotating rivals.

Good call. I should have said "... Play LSU again until 2020."

A third possibility is to allow SEC schools to schedule SEC schools outside of the rotating schedule and these would not count in the standings. So, those 4 schools could play each other and not screw up the other 10 of us. On the years that they are scheduled, they could use that non conference game to actually play another non conference game.

As it stands, it's about once ever 5 years to see a team, and once every 10 to see them at home.

They can still play each other as a OOC game if they are not on the SEC schedule that year, if the rivalary is as important as they make out to be it shouldn't matter if it is an SEC matchup or OOC. Or they can keep the permanent opponent and the rest of the SEC not have a permanent opponent.

I feel like that would make everything even more complicated

It's not a retarded idea, at all. It is outdated.

SEC teams have played each other in the past and it didn't count as a conference game.

Mike Slive has said it's something the SEC will not do now. So, the idea is out.

I agree with you.

The 9 game schedule is stupid and would cause so many issues with uneven home and away SEC games. If these SEC teams want to play every year then they should add it to their OOC schedule, the years it isn't already scheduled by the SEC.

It was retarded then too then. You play and SEC team and it doesn't count in the SEC standings? You don't think that is going to cause problems? You WANT riots in the streets? You are just asking to give SEC fans one more reason to b*tch.

Uneven home vs away? That is what you are worried about? Not the team that got beat by one SEC team can go to the SEC championship over a team that went undefeated in the SEC and beat that same team, because that game "didn't count?" You think the uneven home vs away games is worst than that? You scream all day long that game doesn't count but to the fans that think they got screwed over it's going to really count. It's retarded, the end. Don't give people an excuse to even go there.

Ok this is kinda off topic, but with the new rule saying that SEC teams have to play a team from the power conferences , I'm assuming Clemson will count as our power conference team. Even though it feels like the ACC is not a power conference:rotfl:
