TJ Holloman

Holloman seems to be taking over as the starter at MLB over Kaiwan Lewis.

Article says he has put on 15 lbs over the offseason and is up to 245.

Good to have depth at LB this year.

NICE! One position we thought was our weakness is now out strength!

He must be balling because I thought Lewis looked very solid there

Holloman's a little bigger and faster than Kaiwan, but Kaiwan has some savvy and physical abilities that will get him play also. Holloman lit up one of our running backs in the first scrimmage, but dropped an int. He will need to play with some smarts all year long. I still remember a late hit he made on a QB that cost us big. He looks to be both strong and fast.

Lewis might have the higher football IQ but Holloman has more upside. That is why I have been rooting for him or Roberts to win the starting position.

Yea it surprised me some too. Holloman was great against the pass but struggled against the run but he has improved that with his physicality.

Lewis will play plenty especially against running teams like auburn and UGA. Great to have depth

are you sure youre not thinking of jordan diggs vs florida? because i cant recall another one last year that sticks out.

i think both tj and lewis are pretty smart. coaches said as much going into last year. early on tj was better against the pass and lewis was more physical and better able to hold up against the run. as the season went along both improved their all around game. i like tj better, but id expect the in game snaps to be similar and i expect both to play well.

Maybe it was Diggs. I was thinking it was Holloman..

Weird enough, its been said that Walton is pushing Skai at WILL .. Pretty crazy that an SEC Freshman team member could lose his job in year 2.

Maybe one of these guys can get some work at corner if needed.

That is a strong group right there. The competition will bring out the best in these guys. There is very little drop off from your 1's to your 2's. Even heard some talk about Diggs pushing for starting time.

IMO, Golightly needs to be on the field. Talent alone is enough to earn him a starting spot. But his leadership is top notch. He is the outspoken vocal leader on Defense this year. In the open scrimmage a few weeks back I could hear him congratulating his teammates from the sidelines. It was late in the scrimmage and the 2nd/3rd stringers were out there. Phillip Dukes made a good tackle and you could hear him from the sidelines "Way to go Dirty Dukes!!". One time he was even coaching up the LB's from the sidelines. We might lack experience at a few positions but I think we got good experience at key positions at every level of the Defense (Surratt, Golightly, Brison Williams)

Also, if anyone has seen BAW at practice, he doesn't look like your typical True Freshman. Not surprised to see him be the first BOB to run out there.

The talent we have at LB is immense. Good problem to have so much depth..

Our LBs still have to prove their talent on the field. Last year they played decent but you could see the potential. In practice they pass the eyeball test as the best LB ever at this school. I like the depth a lot because I think some more stars will develop from the competition. Holloman, Diggs, and maybe BAW are the ones I think will rise to the top along side Moore.

Early last season I was wondering if Golightly and Lewis had the talent for SEC football. By season's end, both were making plays and showing good development. It appears they and others have worked hard and had great offseasons. In a few weeks we will see how the hard work translates into performance.Roberts at mlb puzzles me somewhat. Last year he looked utterly lost and ineffective on the field. I hope he has transformed as a player.

I wish the would figure a way to get Moore and Walton on the field at the same time.

I gotta agree. Roberts frustrated me the most last year missing tackles by getting out of position or taking a bad angle. He did make some nice plays though.
