TAMU Starting CB Out For USC Game

Kinda evens out the situation I guess after us losing back-up CB Jamari Smith:

Quote:

A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said Wednesday that junior cornerback De’Vante Harris, with 18 starts over the past two seasons, is likely out for at least another month with a urinary tract “injury” – Sumlin has been clear it’s not an infection – after missing the past couple of weeks of camp with the setback.
“It’s a serious injury,” Sumlin said. “Without going into detail, I’d say he’s still a month away.”

That sounds extremely painful. He must have taken one hell of a shot to the old twig and berries.

Don't worry the Aggies will claim this is a good thing and that the backup was better. Just like Hill is better than Manziel, Seals Jones is better than Evans, and Ogbuehi is better than Matthews.

All of their backups are better than their starters, and they get better each time they lose a starter.

Truth.

In his place they will start redshirt freshman Victor Davis, who was suspended earlier this off-season for shoplifting. Kinda evens things out for us in terms of inexperience at the CB positions...

You really didn't have to go there.

Wow! This will create an incredible mismatch against their dbs. Our receivers are completely awesome. Byrd is better than their guy speedy noil, and Shaq is superior to that tall beanpole they have at their other receiver. Plus, we have Pharaoh! It should be a big advantage for our receivers that the A&M dbs are forced to practice against inferior A&M receivers. Should make it really shocking to their DBs when they have to face our talent. Plus, our tight ends and running backs are the best in the nation. They are in big trouble.

How many starters have they lost on defense? One too a fractured clavicle, one to a vicious UTI, and a linemen or two kicked off the team, or am I confused.

could their backups be any worse than their starters? Might be not so good news for us.

Dont forget Nick Jones. He's still a great option on the field and made some big catches last season.

Wish the guy a speedy recovery. Hope he can get back out there in a couple of weeks. Wouldn't wish that injury on anybody.

Your are too funny. It is easy to see that A&M has possibly gotten better at every position group since they joined the SEC. Manziel's recruiting class was 35th in the Nation. A&M has had classes ranked #16, #9, and #5 since they joined.

This team looks ridiculous right now. If USC thinks they will just run the ball on A&M, this may be addition by subtraction. Devante Harris was a great coverage guy, but his tackling was poor. I'm probably not picking them to beat South Carolina now that Armani Watts and Vic Davis are in the secondary, but they are going to give them a serious test.

Don't forget Mr. Samuel... I think he will make a debut as well.

Having a high ranked recruiting class does not equal elite success. Take Georgia and Clemson for example.

It only evens out the situation if South Carolina is going to line up 4 to 5 wide receivers every down. I would still give A&M a slight edge based on ability.

A&M's secondary will have some combination of Howard Matthews, Floyd Raven, Noel Ellis, Tavares Garner, Nick Harvey, Armani Watts, Vic Davis, and Devonta Burns. Davis and Burns are the only two who are not "Blue Chip" prospects. That is 6 4-star rated players. The only two "Blue Chip" players in the USC secondary are the 2 freshman who got to campus late, because of qualification issues.

LSU fan just sour that they lost what 18? underclassmen to the draft in the past two seasons and its finally gonna catch up with them this year.
