wbb - Ibiam & Welch projected first rounders .

The first mock draft for the WNBA for 2015 is out , with a couple of USC players projected as first rounders . I must say, I'm a little surprised that they are both ranked so high .

Yeah, Welch is about right. But Ibiam over Harrison?

There must be some concern over Harrison's knees. I think she had a couple of injuries.

Tiffany is gonna sparkle,
Youngsters show their promise,
Alaina's gonna rumble.

But the vets are the glue.
Hold Dawn's puzzle together.
'Bout time the glue got its' due.

Last time so get the wax out.
Yesterday: Unseld/ Grosso at U of L.
Today: Elem Ibiam/Alaina Coates at USC.

IMO AW-a tad low. Second-best all-around player in the college game behind Stewart(UCONN).

EI-about right. Why? Can't teach size/height. Doesn't have to handle the ball to score. Improved every year. Good defender, rebounder, shot-blocker. Versatility-Will swing from pivot to power forward in the pro's. And remember she got her stats playing half a game last year.

We really could win the national championship this year if a couple of the freshmen really come around, especially in terms of outside shooting.

Elam at 3 is a big stretch but then again if she improves this year the way she has year to year since her freshman season, she's going to be pretty special. I just don't think Top 5 special. Aleighsa seems about right. If you could combine her skills with Elam's height she'd be #1.

That speaks to our future with Alaina. EI was a very solid player last season - gave excellent effort, never hurt us when she was on the court, and executed very well. No reason to believe she won't produce at the same (or higher) level this season. She's tall and good. That's why she's projected where she is. Alaina will be a high pick when it's her turn too.

Agree with everything you said. Just interesting that a player who's never been on an All-SEC team is #3 on the draft board.

I think it shows how few true post players there are around . We're lucky to have two in Ibiam and Coates , and a couple of others who could play there if we need them to .

I've always been a fan of Ibiam, but 3 is rather high. I think a lot of it has to do with next years class being a lot less talented.

Would having 2 draft picks in the WNBA draft be a record for us?

I saw a lot of the team at the football game tonight. It was nice to see them all hanging out together.

No . Two in the first round would be . 2002 Shaun Gortman was drafted in the first round (#9) and Teresa Geter in round 3 . 2003 Jocelyn Penn was drafted in the first round (#9) and Petra Ujhelyi in round 2 .
