2 back sets

I saw B Wilds saying that have been using the 2 back sets in the scrimmages. I've been wanting to see MD and BW in the backfield together. Or is he talking about using the FB?

We used a two back set of Shaw and Davis last year.

Re: 2 back sets

We've run 2 back sets with a FB, a TE, and another RB before.

Towards the end of last year we started seeing Brandon Wilds as the second RB a lot, especially in the Wisconsin game. I prefer having a TE back there, but like seeing Wilds back there as well. Makes the 2 back sets much more versatile to have a TE or Wilds back there instead of a FB

Hell ! With the backs we have, might wanna run the "bone" every once in awhile.

If we had gotten Blue in I would be in favor of it some. You need a dominant fullback on the dive play to make it really dangerous. Like Pinnock or Jerome Bettis.

A little Spurrier gamesmanship, I think. He loves to keep 'em guessing.

we've shown it a tiny bit over the past 2 or 3 years. mostly shotgun offset or split backs, probably a couple more formations. allows us to go screen on either side of the field or do some misdirection runs. get a team in their base personnel and we'll likely have a linebacker on tailback matchup that we want to exploit. without shaw, we're likely going to need to be as multiple and as versatile as possible in the running game.

Coach Spurrier has said a bunch of times that we will be undercenter more this year than the past 3 seasons.

I'd love to see a punishing ground game with 2 RB's in the backfield. Especially with the O-line playing disciplined and mean, could be awesome.

As long as they don't fumble crossing the goal line against Georgia. :-x
