Southern 500 Finally Returns to Labor Day in 2015

http://www.foxsports.com/nascar/stor...chedule-082614

2nd to last points race before the Chase field is set, this is huge for Darlington and NASCAR tradition this is just made the Southern 500 at the Lady in the Black even more meaningful.

Hopefully this move secures Darlington in the NASCAR schedule for a good while.

PS...I hate your sig.

Darlington had a new date for 2014. Haven't looked but i'm sure it will conflict with football plans for some.

It is a different world now. I am not sure how it will compete with football. I think what would be ideal is a day race on Labor Day itself. And Darlington should have 2 races, Mothers Day and Labor Day. Mothers day a night race, Labor Day a day race.Let people stay all weekend and tailgate, and show football games Sunday and Saturday. Just my idea.

Very true, or at least it deserves more races than Bristol, the slowest track in NASCAR.

On a more serious note, it is rather ironic that Francis Ferko, who's lawsuit resulted in more races for the newer tracks out west and the closure of or loss of races at established tracks in the south (i.e. Darlington, Rockingham), had so much personal misfortune befall him as a result of that lawsuit.

Was it justice or coincidence?

Finally, Darlington back where it belongs, Labor Day weekend. Hot weather, Hot tempers (from drivers) and Hot South Carolina women in American flag and Rebel flag bikinis. Southern racing at it's best at the "Lady In Black", Pack the house race fans. Zoom Zoom

Also good thing they widened 85 around there.

I was thinking that Darlington would have fallen into disrepair by now guess not lol.

From my experience, seems it rained just about all weekend back in the 80s and early 90s, making for sloppy camping and shortened races, some that did run over to the LaborDayMonday. Opening day for Dove season too.

But I'm not complaining, Darlington is the center of NASCAR as far as I'm concerned.

I wish the Rock could get a race, a great track to watch a race.
