I'm more concerned with why didnt we run the ball more from the beginning, we didnt even try to establish the run imo

I think when we did run, we did pretty well. We got stuffed a couple times but wilds averaged 5 ypc, we threw the ball 40 times, and only ran it 15 so I point to that as our problem. We no doubt lost last night because of our defense, but our offense just lacked identity, we threw deep ball after deep ball after deep ball and only connected on half of them. Last year we had a formula for moving the ball down the field, and we didn't last night. An offense without identity is not a good one, no matter how many playmakers you have.

Look at Hills passing stats vs Dylan's

Hill threw 44 completions to Dylan 20 yet Dylan had a higher average, taken into account that dylan also threw 20 incompletions, that tells you all you need to know. We need a middle and short passing game, Shaw really excelled with his short game, but Dylan only seems interested in throwing bombs. It was in the back of my mind all last year and through the preseason that we would see a drop-off with Thompson, but I couldn't have imagined it would be this bad.

We have been pass happy for a long time. Play calling wise. It was just masked by Shaw scrambling well. This is how SOS calls games.
