Seems like a lot of trolls starting threads this year

I don't know how the Mods stop it when they have a lot of usernames stored for times like this. Looks like the Mods are fighting a tough battle. Good job, guys.

Was thinking the same thing. A lot of suspect usernames posting their opinions all the sudden

I tend not to post during the spring but mainly during the season. I notice when u have a slight opinion here everyone gets sensitive and bashes you. seems you can't have an open opinion

That's not the issue. It is the multiple threads the trolls are starting to instigate player and coach bashing. There is a vent thread.

IMO, the mods should just move all the troll threads to the vent thread.

You go ahead and keep your opinions all fresh and rosy for the players. The rest of us will give thoughtful, honest opinions on what disappointment feels like.

"No player, coach or potential recruit bashing - This is a Gamecock site. We have players and player parents who read and participate on this board. If times are tough on the field of play, the last thing they need is to read insulting comments about it on this board. Let's leave the player personnel decisions to the coaches. We don't want anything we do on CockyTalk to potentially hurt our University."

There have been numerous threads that have been deleted but just because someone is critical of a player or coach that is not always bashing. Some people take any criticism and call others taters and the like. I think some people on here would rather this be more like Tnet where you can't say anything criticizing the team and not get banned or labeled a troll. If you you want to be more specific then feel free to report the post so someone can look at them specifically.

There are just as many posts now bashing the team as there were saying that HBC walked on water after that "The Believer" documentary right before the game.

Neither extreme is really accurate but it's just human nature.

I never paid much attention to the walk-on-water stuff before the game just like I hit the "mark all forums read" button on the negative stuff now.

HBC has seen every disappointment and obstacle you can see in life and found a way to prevail.

The problems will get fixed and HBC will prevail at the end of the season like he always has in the past.

Criticizing and bashing are different things. After losses people use the "I am just being realistic bs" to bash our players and coaches.

Bashing a player/coach is one thing. Expressing concern about our coaching or play is a different thing. I think some posters struggle in differentiating between the two.

Sometimes it's cathartic to just let loose and spray all over the place. I love cracking jokes to ease the pain of what I sat through the other night.

...but I can see where some have taken it too far.

...and yes, the trolls are getting bolder.

Theres a differenc between bashing, and calling a spade a spade.

Troll presence is inversely correlated to team perfomance. Win and they will go away.

I don't understand how someone gets banned and then comes back and is obvious on who they are and yet they are not banned.

Well what are you supposed to do when the coaches and players to piss poor job? Not say anything? Lie? This is no longer venting this is about honest discussion about our terrible team. The team is awful and now we have to deal with the fact. The team doesn't stop being awful because the last game is over the vent thread is closed. Any one who doesn't want to see people post negative things about the team players and coaches needs to stay off the messageboards because that is all there is to say about them right now.

Sometimes it is a fine line. But it is discernible, especially if the person is one such as you who tend to become pessimistic at the first sign of trouble. ]

We had this exact discussion last year. Remember my comments on the two type of negative posters. One type is prone to pessimism and gives up hope very easily and likes to vent about it in public. The other type are Clemson trolls that are just trying to instigate dissension and harm our team.

Last year, despite your early season pessimism, we won 11 games and finished fourth in the country. I would tell you the same thing I said last year. Chill and let the season develop before you give up on the Gamecocks.

Remember, don't let the trolls suck you into bashing a player.

And being negative is not all you could say. You could be supportive, especially since you know that our players and their families read this board. Alternatively, you could consider that A&M may be a very good team which created matchup problems for our defense at this stage of the season. Finally, if you watched the game, you saw several examples of our players not giving up and fighting for extra yardage. Wilds comes to mine, and Adams as well. The players never quit, and were obviously upset about the outcome.

What I am about to say is not directed at you or anyone in particular, nor am I asserting that this is your belief.

Nothing that is said on a message board will harm a team. If the coaches are good at their jobs, then the message boards are at the absolute bottom of their list of worries. I'm not saying that this makes it acceptable to constantly bash players/coaches. However, I personally believe it is okay to be critical of a coach/player if they are not doing their job so long as that line is not crossed into personally attacking that coach/player.

Just my two cents. You're right about the trolls.
