Re: Garnet & Black Game 2015

Unless Ward leaves and there is a complete overhaul he'll be back. He was retained based on his recruiting ability and nothing else. As long as he brings in talent and there are others on the staff...

Re: Garnet & Black Game 2015

No we don't. He's still on staff but he's not the primary coach. Ward is the dline coach.

Re: Garnet & Black Game 2015

He isn't but we now have either one of of the highest paid dline coaches in the SEC. Wards primary focus is on these guys and he's handling the coaching duties on the front line.

Re: Garnet & Black Game 2015

He wasn't coached last year. Now that we have someone actually coaching the dline he has an opportunity to shine.

Re: Spurrier recognizes former QBs

Mitchell was wrecked by the Holtz's before Spurrier arrived and Smelley was never given a fair shake by the fans as many saw him as a hinderence to the next guy they wanted to play.

Re: Spurrier recognizes former QBs

Just give it more time. Time and distance are the friends of romanticism and the enemy of reality. In a few years people will look back on him he way they do Ellis.

Re: Garnet & Black Game 2015

That last statement is very true. I was actually impressed with the passing numbers though. Playing that 7 man coverage typically makes it difficult to rack up numbers. Outside of that you just have...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

You have to see where this is going to really appreciate this:

If he has the headphones on then regardless of where he is or what he's doing he's running everything.

If he went to the bathroom...

Re: JC Shurburtt analysis of Mitch

He gets access to a lot more than Joe Public in exchange for what the sites can do for the program. Coaches have a long history of symbiotic relationships which involved special access and "off the...

Re: JC Shurburtt analysis of Mitch

The fact you'd be curious about anything Miller has to say speaks volumes.

Spurrier decided last year was going to be Thompson's NFL audition and outside of injury nothing was going to change...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

None of that changes him acknowledging he didn't call plays at time last year. Have you ever watched him on the sidelines of a game? There are numerous times when he's watching from points on the...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

I believe the TE was used a lot Shaw's Junior year and every time he threw to one people complained that he was "dumping the ball off."

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

Didn't see him say that anywhere in that article. He said he delegated the responsibilities which is way different than I had them run everything through me.

Re: Lorenzo Nunez

Based on recent history there is a much larger chance he transfers than start a game.

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

So I'll ask again...When Spurrier says he didn't call plays do you think he lying?

Re: Lorenzo Nunez

The most popular player on the team is always the incoming freshman QB a third of which never see the field in any meaningful way.

Re: QB Competition Open Until the Fall

Tony Morrell has stated in the past the only one they would be interest in at all is Golson. He said he was told Brewer's father had been contacting the staff but no one felt he was an upgrade over...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

Are you saying that he's lying? If you don't believe he's delegated responsibility for periods and even games then what exactlly do you think he's referencing? These are his words in recent...

Re: Effect of the Lost Scholarships?

From what I have learned from other posters is that these lost scholarships are the reason the defense struggled so much last season. Oddly enough though these seem people can't explain the reason...

Re: Return To Mediocrity?

I think most people would agree mediocrity would be an improvement for basketball.

Football hasn't had a stretch where you can really say they broke out of that mold. I know the wins are there...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

This. It would be really interesting if Spurrier would acknowledge which part of the Kentucky game he called versus which part Mangus called. I'm fairly sure we can all guess on that one and really...

Re: Spurrier - "I plan to be the Play-Caller again."

Hahaha. Spurrier call 5 run plays in a row that's rich. If he'd have done that at the end of the Kentucky game or Tenn game those probably wouldn't have been losses.

That being said since he's...

Re: Serious Question - What happens to Spurrier...

Even if the team goes 5-7 he'll stay until he's ready to leave. You should know as much as anyone the negative impact of trying to move on from a "coaching legend". When a guy retires it's one thing...
