Re: 2016 - John Simpson

I believe I read that our smaller recruiting budget was due to HBC not wanting to spend the money.

Our recruiting strategy certainly seems to be an enigma. Personally, IMHO the only reason...

Re: 2016 - John Simpson

Sounds like a very good system to have in place. In some respects our recruiting strategy may still be stuck back in the dark ages. What worked in the 80's and 90's doesn't work now.

As a program...

Re: 2016 - John Simpson

That's along the lines of what I was thinking, thanks for clarifying it.

Some people are to the point of stringing up some of our coaches about being "lazy" with recruiting, but what you mention...

Re: 2016 - John Simpson

This is what I'm not getting.

Look at the NCAA rules. A coach can only make 1 phone call to a rising Sr recruit between the dates of 4/15 and 5/31. Just one. Prior to 4/15 they can't be called at...

Re: Breaking News: One Escapee Down, One Cornered

You've watched Shawshank Redemption one too many times.

This isn't Andy and Red living the good life on the beach in Mexico spending the Warden's money...these are convicted murderers who escaped...

Re: 2016 - Brad Hawkins

Nonsense.

If we had all of our eggs in the basket for a franchise LT or DT/DE, that's one thing. Those guys are hard to get. Skill guys are a dime a dozen.

There's a lot more talented WR's...

Re: Ward and the new Defense

Did you have an aneurysm while we were beating Clemson?

Reason I'm asking is that's the same strategy we employed to beat up on Tajh Boyd. Go back and listen to Wards interviews post game those...

Re: Shooting in Charleston; suspect still at large

I've never been a big proponent of people carrying, but the question will always be...if someone HAD been carrying, could've this been stopped or diminished?

Crying shame. Looking at his...

Re: NC Shark Attacks

You must not spend much time at the beach in Scotland. And you obviously have never been involved with trying to communicate to crowds at a beach, some in the water, some out of the water.

Even...

Re: NC Shark Attacks

Relax, I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing...just injecting reality.

Think about what you're posting...a kid gets bit, a little over an hour later, two miles away, another kid gets bit.

Re: NC Shark Attacks

Nonsense.

Both people were bitten two miles apart, a little over an hour apart. There's only one way to prevent shark attacks on people...ban all swimming in the ocean.

Like I noted, anyone...

Re: NC Shark Attacks

Shame the kids were bitten, but there's a whole lot of overreacting going on. The only option to keep people from being bitten by sharks is to completely close every beach to swimming.

Any of...

Re: 2016 - John Simpson

For whatever reason we don't get looks from Ft D players. I don't know if it's just the players want to go somewhere else, or if the staff/boosters steer the players somewhere else. Seemed like he...

Re: Discussion: 2016 Recruiting Impressions

I'm not sure saying that we "turned down a top ten instate recruit" is entirely correct.

Apparently we have cooled our interest a bit because of worries about him qualifying.

Some of the...

Re: Discussion: 2016 Recruiting Impressions

You're running off into the weeds.

There are a select few kids every year who truly go for the "value" of that full ride scholarship...for example, a smart kid offered by Stanford would be hard...

Re: Discussion: 2016 Recruiting Impressions

Your "binding commitment" applying to people buying a bag of veggies doesn't apply to a 16 or 17 year old who doesn't make anything "binding" until NSD.

Re: Discussion: 2016 Recruiting Impressions

There must be some part of "there is no such thing as a binding commitment" that you simply aren't getting.

While I agree that our staff from Tanner/HBC on down need to rethink recruiting...

Re: Kyle Hoke Joins Staff

Well, Jr is a high profile asst. with us, and Scotty is a QC guy, or works with TE's, or whatever it is he does.

Maybe since Hoke's son has grown up in a NFL household he's been exposed to a lot...

Ummm...that happens in every program.

It's a verbal commit. It's not a contract until the paperwork is signed and faxed.

Re: 2016 - Akeem Cooperwood

Robinson was an equally big dude, and he struggled terribly against speed rushers. At times he also struggled run blocking, and at times he appeared to simply give up.

So yeah...footwork is...

Re: Spurrier Gave Mitch the Keys

Ummm...Dylan wasn't a disaster.

You already lost whatever credibility you may have had by publicly calling Blackshear a thug...you aren't going to gain it back by postulating that a QB that threw...
