The question is do you want the best defensive talent to come around in a decade or so, or do you want to waste a #1 pick on a QB that will be somewhat of a project and need time to fully develop.

The 50 used to be a pretty standard defensive formation (decades ago). With five dline rushing the QB, it makes it harder to double Clowney without opening a hole somewhere else.
