Re: Another A&M aggie off the team....

I get tired of seeing ignorant garbage like this. The Air Raid offense works in the SEC, that has been proven both at Kentucky, and with a similar offense, Spurrier's offense at Florida.

The...

Re: K-Mart to Stay for Senior Season

I saw the partial thread title and thought this was going to be something about Dabo's sweatshirts.

Re: Debating a team's strengths and weaknesses

I didn't create the OP as a veiled attack on our team. Lol

I think we will be fine this year. We might struggle some on defense, but by the end of the year, I think we will be ok.

I don't think...

Re: Debating a team's strengths and weaknesses

Sure there are exceptions, but what I mentioned in the OP seems to be a trend. Maybe the exceptions can help answer the question?

Debating a team's strengths and weaknesses

It *seems* that in college football, teams with a strong offense tend to have a weak defense, and teams with a strong defense tend to have a weak offense.

Strong offense/weak defense examples:...

Re: A video that might help the football illiterate here

Coach Mac has a video on the 4-2-5.

This is his 4-2-5, and not our 4-2-5.

Re: Finebaum on Spurrier

Are you sure about that? He has abused Clemson pretty bad the last 5 years.

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Except we aren't installing the 3-4 as a base defense, we are installing it as a situational adjustment for passing downs.

We are short on DE depth, and have plenty of defensive tackle depth, so...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

First of all, let me say that I greatly appreciate your willingness to engage in intelligent and detailed football discussion. That is something that is not often seen on this site.

Thank you...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Why not keep the defense in a 4-2-5, take out the lesser pass rusher of the two DEs, and sub either Walton or BAW into their spot? (i.e. line them up as a DE in the 4-2-5) If having Skai and Walton...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Why spend teaching time, player brain power, and practice reps on installing a 3-4 package when you could just sub the pass rushing specialist into one of the 4-2-5 DE spots in obvious passing...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

It's still not clear to me what exactly we are supposedly going to be doing.

I've heard all kinds of stuff.

From what I've gathered, one of our 4-2-5 DEs is going to be able to shift to outside...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Now this I agree with (Surprisingly, I'm sure. Lol)

Games are won in the weight room, not on the whiteboard.

With that said, if a team that has their Jimmies and Joes and their X's and O's...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

When thenardier originally said "1v1", it sounded like he was saying that the running back would be matched up on someone not in space. I agree that the money is on a running back to beat defenders...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Who has the J? You didn't say who has the J. I would assume it's the playside tackle, but then who has the T?

I tried explaining this to you earlier. The 4-2-5/3-4 hybrid puts 6 defenders in the...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

What?

It's one deal to leave a defender unblocked and option off of them (if that's what you were suggesting, you made no mention of it), or to leave a defender unblocked that is out of the box...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

The defense has six people in the box. The offense has five blockers.

Who has the T? Who has the J? I assume by pulling the RG, you mean will they will pull and pick up the S, ala the "Power"...

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

Are you talking about the 4-2-5/3-4 hybrid?

If so, how is that?

All 6 running gaps are accounted for.

-Left side C gap
-Left side B gap
-Left side A gap
-Right side A gap

Re: 3-4 looks in 2014?

C2, is it going to be 3-4 or 3-3-5? I keep seeing people talking about the 3-4, but I thought Whammy was going to visit Charlie Strong to learn up on the 3-3-5.
