Re: Not a talent issue

No way. I've been crucified on the recruiting board (banned for a wk at one point) by many of the same people in here all of a sudden whistling a different tune re: stars.

The reality a/b stars...

Re: Not a talent issue

It was a mix of talent and coaching.

We have whiffed on DE recruiting for years. We cannot generate a pass rush and thus have lost our defensive identity. We also didn't manage the roster well...

Re: Recruiting Question

The only clown here is you. You carried water for this staff despite the very obvious recruiting miscues and now continue to defend them despite getting waxed in the first games due to the very...

Re: My Observations About USC Football and Campus

It had a lot of work done to it around 2006-2008, I think. It isn't great by any stretch, but the dining facilities and the bookstore got some serious upgrades around that time.

Re: Recruiting Question

I didn't mention stars at all. My point is that we have recruited unevenly over the past years and we always seem to be scrambling to plug holes in the roster. We also wasted time chasing...

Re: Recruiting Question

Recruiting poorly translates to a weak on-field performance? Oh, weird. Don't say this on the recruiting board, though, or you'll get banned. Trust me, I know.

We always seem to have positional...

Re: 2015 - Bradrick Shaw

Well, dummy, by that same token there's no rule against calling someone out for useless posts (it hardly amounts to bullying, not that I'd even know what the hell to make of a charge of "bullying" on...

Re: 2015 - Bradrick Shaw

It isn't illogical. The recruiting board functions best when information a/b a particular recruit is easily accessible w/o having to wade through silly posts from know-nothing fans who contribute...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Sawyer, Wideman, and Ritchie are not guaranteed to be in our future classes. They still have to make grades, something they failed to do once and something that another member of our 2014 class...

Hey, look. We're famous: http://recruiting.blog.ajc.com/2014/07/11/more-than-13-of-south-carolinas-football-signees-waiting-to-qualify/

According to b381 this is all totally cool and no big deal,...

Re: SPARQ Scores from The Opening - 2014

God help us if they find a QB, an OL, and a coach instead of a recruiter. North, Malone, and Williams rivals Da'Rick, Hunter, and Patterson.

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Ah yes, when you can't engage an argument on its merits, just try to discredit your opponent. Excellent tactic.

As if I needed to be a football coach to offer my own opinion on a message board...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

How soft are you? You think we shouldn't criticize our staff? That they don't make mistakes? In case you don't remember, Spurrier promised us an SEC title, and until that happens there is still work...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Also, this is not the most talented crop of DEs. Lot of converted LBs who've never played a snap at DE, another guy w/ an injury history, couple of guys w/o the size to play regularly, tons of...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Translation: everything our coaches do is correct, even if it isn't, and IF it isn't, it's just b/c they couldn't have known.

What an awful, awful attitude to have. Jesus.

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

It's still a risk. We wait on players all the time who never make it in. And we're not talking a/b taking mediocre players vs the guys we target. The south is absolutely littered w/ DE talent. It...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

The goals last year were to fill our class w/ four or so DE prospects who can continue our success at the position and make sure one or two of those four were capable of contributing immediately. The...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

That's a good point, to be sure. There's just a lot we don't know a/b a very opaque process. We very well could've exhausted a lot of our options in anticipation of the risk of these guys not...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Hindsight is 20/20 but these academic issues didn't take us entirely by surprise, let's be real.

As for who we should've gone after instead, that's a question for the coaches (I remember us being...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

Don't be foolish. We're only getting a/b 18. That leaves 4 spots open. And even if they couldn't have contributed this year, they'd still be in our S&C program and learning our playbook and bonding...

Re: Discussion: 2015 Recruiting Impressions

You don't? So you'd support us going after three more academic risks at a position of need this year so long as they have talent?

It was an awful strategy. And to be honest, I'm not all that...

Re: 2015 - A.J. Turner

Alright, 247 has Turner listed at 180 lbs, though. I wasn't sure if he is projected to be an every down back in the SEC.
