Default Taco Bell Introduces the Horse Meat Burrito

Horse Meat Found At Taco Bell

Taco Bell's ground beef is among the four new products found by the UK's Food Standards Agency to contain more than 1 percent horse meat, the BBC reported.

The restaurant chain only has three locations in Britain, and said all affected products have been removed. The products came from a European supplier, the company told the BBC. At least 95 percent of Britain's chain restaurants have now been tested for horse meat, according to the BBC.

The horse meat was first discovered in January in frozen burgers in the UK and Ireland. Since then, testing has revealed that many processed food and beef products contain it. Burger King in Ireland admitted that some of its burgers contained horse meat. Ikea meatballs in Europe were also affected.

Taco Bell sent us this statement to stress that the finding wouldn't affect its U.S. business:

"Our domestic restaurants have not been, and will not be, impacted because we do not use any meat from Europe. We stand for quality and we use 100% premium beef. Like all beef in the United States, ours is USDA inspected and then passes our own 20 quality checkpoints."
