Game Last night
A few observations from a casual observer. I think it's a fantastic fact that our team can win 27-10 relatively easily and be a little sloppy. At no point did I feel worried or concerned we were not in control. (It felt similar to Clemson) At least from my experience the best teams usually hit their stride later in the season. Teams that start out looking like a well oiled machine typically burn out before the season is over. Even Alabama will have some kinks to work out.
Some important things I'm hearing,
Clowney was out of shape- I'm sure he was a little but our defense was on the field with little rest because in the first half we kept scoring so quickly. It was also hot as hades!! Clowney had an impact, maybe not on the stat sheet but he defiantly made our defense much more effective. I just wish Espn would tone it down some, because the general consensus is that people are a little tired of hearing all the hype. I love Clowney but I love our team more so I wish they'd give some hype to the rest of the team.
Why do other teams always assume that the product of the game is their own doing and nothing to do with us. I was on southern pigskin... which is a acc love fest all the time, and they were talking about how terrible UNC's offense must be. For real? Why does it not make sense that maybe our Defense just manhandled their o-line and blocking schemes that kept them off the field. It just bothers me. They were also talking about how UNC was only like a few plays away from being close. I mean with that logic take away the stupid facemask call and put back the touchdown that Roland dropped and we could've made it much worse. We also ran the ball very conservatively the second half and kept it closer than the score indicated. It's just Clempson logic if you ask me.
I thought the offense looked sloppy, but extremely explosive and has the potential to be effective at what we do. Yeah, we probably won't ever have a premier high powered offense in the normal sense. With that being said, we're fantastic at what we do. Taking care of the ball and avoiding turnovers and moving the sticks.
I guess the true measuring stick will be next week, but I wouldn't be surprised if we give Georgia one heck of a game. I don't know if we will win but I like our chances.
