Re: Why Were Music and Musicians of Previous Generations Were Better?
Previously, media (tv, radio, no internet) was limited in its influence. You only heard music on the radio, and you may only have a few good stations, and would only get a few minutes of it a day. It was much tougher to get national attention. The only way to make it to the top was with good music. You didn't even know what an artist looked like unless their face was on an album cover. As access became more and more prevalent, talent and originality could take a back seat to looks and style. If we still lived in a society where artist had to fight for radio time, music would be better. Now, anyone can make a record and throw it out there on YouTube.
