Re: **USC vs. Georgia GAME Thread**
I suppose Vegas gives the Dawgs the edge in this game based on our recent road performances and the fact that they need this game so badly. They decided making Georgia the slight favorite would prompt the betting, and it did.
Personally, I think the mindset that they'll be more motivated to win is ridiculous. How much motivation could you possibly need to drum up for a game like this? I don't think the added pressure works to their advantage at all, quite the opposite in fact.
Center will be a concern for us as I don't expect Waldrop to go, but we've been game planning with these 5 guys up front all week. I think Christian will be fine in the secondary, he's a very good corner. Depth could be an issue, but I also think we'll see Vic Hampton playing more than most expect.
We have Bruce at 100%, they lost Mitchell. Their defense looks even worse than last year, and why not? They lost Rambo, Jenkins, Jones, and Ogletree. Even better, their O-line looks extremely shaky, especially at left tackle. Spurrier is in their heads and our defense will be in their face.
Yes they have a great running back in Gurley, but they have the same issue as last year: they prefer to run on the edges rather than between the tackles, and up the middle is where I feel we're most vulnerable. We're fast to the edges and pretty sure tacklers. They like toss sweeps and delayed handoffs rather than up the gut, and we'll make them pay for that.
These games never seem to go as expected, so I'll refrain from making a score prediction, but honestly...unless we fall to pieces and make a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes (Florida, last year) or they just play the game of their doggy lives, we should win. Period. Nothing I've seen would indicate that either of those scenarios seem likely.
This is a confident group of Gamecocks, they're winners and they expect to win - and so do I.
