One window closing, another opening
OK, that thread title is a little dramatic, but you know how we do after a big loss. This is a glimpse ahead thread, so if you wanna stay focus on this season, please don't read further.
We lose Ronald Patrick and Connor on offense after this year. We'll lose Clowney, Sutton, and Legree on defense, potentially Vic. Imagine if Vic and Clowney decide to stay, unhappy with how this season went (not a chance). Imagine if they both left, even. This current season is effectively grooming a lot of our hopefuls towards our ultimate goal, the SEC. If we can recover and play better mentally, we can easily do it THIS season. We have the leaders on O, we're looking for it on D. However,
We are looking freaking beastly on offense next season: runningbacks alone are Bama level, QBs are as good as it gets IMO, Oline will be our best all-time IMO, and we'll have a seriously fast and experienced receiving corp including massive tight ends.
What we do with these young speedsters on defense, both mentally and physically this year and the off-season will determine what kind of product we back up this season with. Because we lose a ton on both sides of the ball the year after that. (Dylan, Surratt, Robinson, Nicky Jones, Hull, Vic, Golightly, Gibson, Fish, Cann, Brison, Quarles, Matulis, K Marcus, Bruce, Buster, and Damiere)
This team has a two year window to get this thing done. Things are less certain after that, moving into the Connor Mitch era. We'll have new talent, and new star weapons, so who knows. Another window will open, but it might not be as wide as the current one that slid down a notch Saturday.
