This penalty is ruining the sport I love and it's all because of this generation of soft parents we have today raising soft kids in a PC world where they won't let them out of sight until they are 18, tell them they are awesome everyday no matter what happens, and fear for their safety 24/7.
When I played football, I LIVED for the big hit. The opportunity to inflict pain into another person and feel like the biggest and baddest on the field was where it was at. In high school, we had a t-shirt award each week that was called a "Hot W". Everyone wanted it. That was the Hit Of The Week.
I agree, it is a CONTACT sport, let the CONTACT happen. People who play this sport are the same as those who race on an oval at 200mph. They know the dangers, but they do it anyways, why? Because they love it, thats why.
