If we prep against the other teams' offenses, but don't get reps against the stuff that's gashing us, we are not going to correct that stuff. We might find that with our weaknesses at spur and LB, some 5 DL (50) might work when needed to stop first down plays. We might get some better LB and DB play.
We need to fix the stuff we suck at, not just prepare for what the upcoming opponent did against other teams before they saw our film.
Kinda hard to prepare for all that when you spend your free time on vacation and playing golf.
Saban, Belichick, etc, might have some character issues that Spurrier never will, but I highly doubt this **** would be happening if either one of them were running this team...For one, Saban or Belichick would have nixed Deke Adams' defensive line philosophy a long time ago because it puts our inexperienced linebacking corps at risk. They control every aspect of their program.
Take Belichick. He is the de-facto defensive coordinator, but he is also heavily involved with New England's offense.
These guys work around the clock to make sure their football team is the best it can be.
Spurrier appears not to have made the same commitment.
Before yall start calling me out, let me be clear here:
I am not saying Spurrier is not a good coach. I think he is a great offensive coordinator. I am thankful for all the positive stuff he has accomplished at Carolina. With that said, his program management, commitment to making sure the football team is the best it can be, and head coaching abilities appear to be average at best.
I know Saban ain't walking through that door.
I know Belichick ain't walking through that door.
It's just so frustrating to watch the same garbage every year. The only way our win total goes up is when we get more talent and that talent gains experience. The coaching still looks to be the same now as it was in 2005...Average at best.
