As for MVP, I'm torn between Shaw and Davis. Shaw has been lights out this season and clearly a big reason we've been so successful. But then I think about how well the OL has played and the numbers Davis is putting up. That makes me think about the UCF game. None of us can say with absolute certainty we wouldn't have won that game if we hadn't started running Davis, but it seems unlikely.
That makes me think there's a chance we could have the same record (or better) even without Shaw if we were simply to dedicate ourselves to being a power-running team first with the occasional play-action pass worked in. Again, I don't know this would be the case, so I honestly don't know who I feel has been more valuable to this point.
That's what I told the guy on the radio....Waldrop was named the
starting center early in the fall, and all you heard from Shawn Elliott
the entire month of August was how well Cody had developed into the
roll, and he was probably the only guy we had on the line that could
fill in that spot left by TJ. .... I told him when Waldrop went down with
the injury, I think the fans felt like the Center position was in big trouble.
Center is probably the most important position on the offense besides
the QB, and Gamecock Nation was in panic mode for a while when we
heard how bad Waldrop's injury was...... Stadnik stepped up and not
only filled the spot, but has gotten some SEC, as well as some national
acclaim for the job he's done so far. ... That pick for me was a no brainer.
