Someone else addressed this in another thread a few weeks ago much better than I can - but it has to do with a change in the way Deke is coaching the D-line vs Lawing . . .
Lawing had the D-Line play more disciplined in terms of their assignments by filling the lanes at the line of scrimmage, which translated to more tackles by the DL. Deke's approach is less disciplined in that respect and is intended to be "more fun" for the DL by allowing them to be more aggressive and rely on the LBs to step up and fill the lanes.
In theory, with Deke's approach, the DL is focussed on getting more penetration/pressure in the backfield and the LBs step up to make the tackles - unfortunatley, from what I have seen, this "strategy" has resulted in the DL overpursuing on running plays and with inexperienced LBs who aren't as quick to recognize the way the plays are developing in front of them, the tackles are happening down field instead of at the line of scrimmage.
