In any top defense, the bulk of the tackles are made by the linebackers and strong safety. The reason last year's stats had 2 DL among the top ten is the outstanding run defense play by Devin Taylor and Clowney not being schemed against the same way. Making the title statement of this thread shows the folly of looking up statistics and not re-watching games combined with surface knowledge of the nature of high-level football defenses. Look at the stats for NFL teams and you will see the same distribution - but on the good defenses the linebackers make the stops at or near the line. DB's are making tackles on slants and missed assignments that the LB's and spur should be making. They will improve; we just lost a lot of football saavy.
