Here comes that saying again ... When you win, you're not as good as you think you are, and when you lose, you're not as bad as you think you are.
We come off of one our best performances and are flying on cloud 9, and then respond with one of our worst performances, Offensiveley.
From play calling, to execution, to time management, the Offense did everything they could to lose the game Saturday, and as bad as it feels, we still almost won that game. Heck, we couldn't even keep the opening kickoff in play. We also had some injuries along the line that didn't help matters.
This game reminds me so much of the LSU game last eyar. On the road, make mistake after mistake, but still in a position to win late in the game, but we still can't even get out of our own way to do so.
There were also countless (questionable) penalties (can we please get that pansy ass targeting rule out of the game? Helmet to helmet, yes, targeting, NO), but the Defense played as well as you can expect a young Defense to play. A couple of hiccups in there, but still played well.
This week's ...
CACK'S TOAST OF THE GAME ... AGAINST TENNESSEE IS ... JADEVEON CLOWNEY
All yeah long we've heard ESPN, the sports talk guys on the radio, and all the taters (and even some of you) yapping about how JD is a "one hit wonder", "overrated", "out of shape", and "the biggest joke in college football". Saturday he showed what he does if you try to block him 1 on 1. All the talk leading up to this game was the match up between him and Richardson. It was "Richardson owned him the whole game last year but let up on one play." From the first 2 snaps, Clowney let everyone know that he was here to prove a point. This game confirms why teams double and triple team him every week, and why every team we play from now on will.
- Davis being Davis ... except on the last drive of the game
- Quarles and Surratt were all over the place with Clowney on Saturday. The only time I saw Sutton was when he was overpersuing and then having to chase the play down from behind. These guys, as a group, are starting to get it clicking and that's helping the youth behind them.
I really have to cut if off there. If I'm missing any, please let me know. There were some good plays here and there, but then there were some bone head plays at the same time that took away the good. Everyone feel free to add to the list of Honorable Mentions.
