2009 Ole Miss
This was a huge game for all of us. We saw the number 4 team in the nation fall at Willy B while we rose up. Those paying attention saw that number 4 team drop, drop some more, and then fall into oblivion. Firing their coach and starting fresh. This season after our issues came to light, became Ole Miss' 2009 season to me. I am realistic enough to know that we ( and every team ) will have bad seasons, but we are in a position as a program that can make or break us. If we end up 8-4, so be it, the true test is how we respond next season now.... do we build/learn/change enough to rise up again after we were beaten down, or do we fall into oblivion with the likes of Ole Miss who watch their SEC West brethren Bama and LSU gobble up recruits and wins left and right. If we fall to the depths of Ole Miss, we will be looking up at the Big Three yet again saying " we were part of that briefly." We have a real chance to prove that we, as a program, are contenders.... but also the chance to prove that we are middle tier. The choice is ours as a program. For the past 4 seasons we have shown that we can compete on a game by game basis, now is the point where we show that we can compete on a year by year basis.
Georgia has bad years, they rebuild/reload.... Florida has bad years, they rebuild/reload ... Tennessee has had bad years, historically they rebuild, however, we have a chance to show that we can rebuild and kick them off balance even more. We have a bad year, we must rebuild or fall forever in history with the likes of Ole Miss and Houston Nutt. This is no longer a game by game issue, this is year by year program potential. This offseason will prove alot for the future.... lets hope we come out on the right side.
