Just look at it as the prize is the SEC Eastern Division Championship, and winning the SEC Championship would just be a bonus. That way you can look at the SECCG as playing with house money with nothing to lose, and you won't have to be disappointed by a loss.
Winning just the program's second SEC Eastern Division Championship would be a big deal.
I also happen to think South Carolina would have a realistic chance of beating Alabama. Spurrier has coached better against Saban than any other coach I can think of. He is 3-1 against him, with the one loss being a game that was tightly contested in the 4th Quarter.
