Coastal Carolina at North Dakota State
Coastal Carolina proved a lot last week by winning at Montana in the stinging cold, and the Chants have not been fazed by much this season while setting program records with their 12 wins and two postseason victories.
This is a different kind of challenge, though, and the fact remains that North Dakota State has won 21 straight games – the longest active streak in Division I football – and two straight national championships.
The loud atmosphere inside the Fargodome surely affects opponents as well, and Coastal will have to adjust to the noise level. That probably would be a significant factor for this seasoned team, though. Just as North Dakota State likely won’t be done in by head coach Craig Bohl’s decision this week to take the Wyoming job after the season. That news leaked out last Saturday night and has been a source of conversation all week. It’s a distraction, sure, but for a team that has a chance to become just the second to ever win three straight FCS national titles since the playoffs began, focus probably won’t be a problem come kickoff.
Even FBS foe Kansas State couldn’t top the Bison this season, and until someone knocks them off, they are the favorites.
