Re: Eric Hyman Saved South Carolina and Made it Great
I guess no one was trashing Hyman in the previous thread so there had to be a second one to trash him.
McGee had very little to do with Holtz or Spurrier. Holtz contacted him and Holtz set up Spurrier as well. As for the trashing of McGee and Edwards he simply commented on the financial situation of the athletics programs. There was a tremendous deficit in the department due to a lack of attention to paid to increasing donations and money from donors.
In regards to the baseball stadium the primary hold up was funding. Everyone agreed that a new stadium was needed but putting together the money to build something like that isn't as simple as pulling out the checkbook.
There were multiple programs interested in Horn. Hindsight is always 20/20 but at the time of the hire most people believed it was a step in the right direction. Besides it's not like he was replacing a guy people really wanted to stick around. I know there were a lot of people wanting Marshall but there is no way to know if he's have done any better.
As for Garcia his biggest mistake was letting it go on for as long as he did. No player should ever get to a point where he's suspended 5 times before he's removed from the program.
