Default Re: Credit

A free credit report does not include your FICO score. The three major reporting companies may have different information in your reports and have different methods of calculating/score ranges, so you have 3 different credit scores that vary widely. I've found myfico.com to be the most reliable. You can pay $19.95 for one score and report, or you can get all three. If you are looking to borrow money soon, find out which company your lender pulls from and check that score. Checking your own score does not affect your credit. There are usually good promo codes on the net every few months that make myfico.com really affordable.

You can also visit some of the credit reporting companies directly and get your score, like transunion.com, but I've heard the score they give you is some composite score and not the real FICO score that lenders use.
