Houston would be stupid to take anyone other than Clowney at #1. They can get a pretty good QB in the second round and not have to pay him as much or play him as early; seems like a win-win to me.
Actually if the QB is good, then taking a QB atthe bottom of the 1st would be better than taking one at the top of the 2nd. The $ is not that different and 1st rd picks have the 5th year team option, 2nd rounders do not. The 49ers definitely wish that they could have taken Kaepernick in the bottom of the 1st instead of the top of the 2nd.
Houston obviously has reservations about JD's ability to play OLB is a 3-4. If they could move down to the middle of the 1st and get a QB they like (Bortles) plus more picks, it would be ideal.
I like the idea of mid round team moving up to get JD and using him with his hand in the dirt.
