Past SEC Champions who had a BAD loss...
Just to boost some hope....past SEC champions who suffered a bad loss (or any other conference champs if you can think of them):
2001: LSU had THREE, yes, 3 conference losses: lost by 8 to Tennessee, lost 44-15 to Florida in Baton Rouge, and later lost by 9 to unranked Ole Miss. And THEY ended up winning the SEC!!
2000: Steve Spurrier's UF Gators lost to a mediocre Miss State team, then got hammered by Florida State 30-7. They ended up winning the SEC.
1999: Alabama lost, at home, to Louisiana Tech. Later lost by 14 to Tennessee. And won the SEC.
2007: LSU won the SEC and NC, and they lost to Kentucky and Arkansas, who were both sub .500 in the SEC that year
2008: Florida has a pretty stunning learly oss at The Swamp to Ole Miss. The famous Tim Tebow speech afterwards. They ended up winning the SEC!
2005: Georgia lost BACK TO BACK games...to Florida and Auburn. Both great teams. But, losing back to back weeks...we'd be panicked. They weren't, and won the SEC.
2003: LSU lost by 12 points to Florida, pre-Meyer and Tebow, that Florida team went 7-5, so it was not a "great" Florida team. LSU won it all later that year.
Anyway, that's just a few off the top of my head guys. Hell, even Clemson, in 2011 they won the ACC.....after being beaten 31-17 by GA Tech, and beating manhandled 37-13 by NC State!!
Just sayin'....a LOT of past conference champions have had an ugly Saturday happen to them. Lets just hope USC will be another...whose ugly day happened to occur in Week 1.
