    Default QUOTES THREAD :

    I used to keep a colletion of quotes in a notebook years ago, but
    when I got laid off from my last job in 2002, The notebook got lost
    in the move either while moving my personal belongings out of my
    office, or in the move from Greenville to Columbia. I've just decided
    to start re-collecting good quotes that I can add to a new notebook.

    SO:

    I'm going to sticky this thread here in the WaterCooler. Post any good
    Quotes you know of, or run across in this thread. Quotes about anything.
    Sports, Life, Love, Comical etc. . . . ..

    Just keep them Safe to view here on the board. . .any other will be
    deleted.

    One I just saw as someone's signature on another board that I loved:

    "Some people are born on third base, and go through life thinking they
    hit a triple" !!

    i have to set this up a little...

    a few buddies and i crashed a party in high school out of town. some ladies, who were not necessarily attractive decided to act like witches minus the "w" and plus a "b", confronted us about why we were there.

    the next thing out of my mouth was something i've been quote for since then...

    "I came here for two reasons: to drink some beer and get laid. Well it looks like I have more beer so I guess I'll be seeing you ladies later."

    If you don't know now you know....

    It matters not how strait the gate,
    How charged with punishments the scroll,
    I am the master of my fate;
    I am the captain of my soul.
    William Earnest Henley excerpt from poem "Invictus"

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
    -Rudyard Kipling excerpt from "If"

    “Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’”
    Mary Anne Radmacher

    “The Vision of a Champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, and the point of exhaustion, when no one else is watching."
    -Anson Dorrance

    Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don't quit until you attain it. When you do attain it, set another goal, and don't quit until you reach it. Never quit.

    Thats actually a spin-off of Lou Holtz.

    If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven’t done anything today.

    I couldve sworn coach K was the originator of that quote.

    I could go on and on with quotes from Wooden. What an inspiration he is.

    I had these two quotes in that notebook. . and as you said, a few more
    from the great coach W. He reminded me a lot of Coach Holtz when he
    was in his prime. Just listening to Coach Wooden talk you soon realize
    this was not a man who just made a lot of good quotes in his speeches
    but he was a guy that truely believed everyone of those famous quotes
    and lived and coached by them . . . . . . no doubt whatsoever why he
    was successful.

    I know what you mean. I first heard this one at a management siminar
    back in the late 70s. The guy doing the siminar had it on the overhead
    during one of his speeches about being a dynamic leader. . . . wrote
    that one down. . . it's always been one of my favorite quotes of all
    time because it's very true.
