"don't like anyone's pick"? That's quite a leap from what I actually wrote about one name, but you do you.

I have a sinking feeling that Ray is going to go for a safe name like Kirby Smart. I don't think our AD will be too adventurous in his next hire.

Ray's short list probably looks like this:

    1. Kirby Smart

Don't mind the other rude posters. I think Butch is pretty good. Beat us the last two years didn't he? Though, that doesn't say an awful much.

As long as it isn't a coordinator. We need a guy who can coach and build a program, all phases of the game. We aren't exactly sitting on a wealth of talent...and it will get worse in the coming months.

I'd like to see an Alum get it. Dantonio is the only one out there!

I think worst case Butch will be around 4 years and will leave a stocked roster to the next coach.

    So we should be OK.

But that isn't what this thread about, for once in the past 7 years TN is not hiring a coach (right now).

At Florida. Lou Holtz prove you can turn around in 2 years at South Carolina though.

Dantanio isn't coming here. Using alum status as a requirement is the type of thing that keeps South Carolina in the lower tier of college football.

I'd actually be game for this as long as he was given the budget and some good guidance. But I think you'd need to give a longer contract - say six years - and limit the buyout to the modest base salary only.

No we would have been on the death penalty.

HE had no respect for our program and wouldn't have cared if he left us in a ditch (which he did).

Anyone who says we'd be better if he stayed is crazy.

We would have been better off if he left after signing day so we wouldnt' have got stuck with Derek Drooley.

Please don't use Michigan and South Carolina in the same sentence...unless you know of a Jim Harbaugh type guy who can coach at USC and played at USC.

No to everyone until after Fuente says NO. And even then we should not take no for an answer.

Fuente just signed a new contract after last season and makes about $1.2 mil now so that could be a problem if we have to buy out 4 years.
