Default Got a hypothetical question here

Got a question for the board. Now, as the title implies is a hypothetical question and does not mean I think we will blow the doors of the Dores, but what if while playing our opening season game against Vandy we start to get a good size lead say 42-14 midway through the third quarter. Do we let off the gas and pull the starters or should we keep the hammer down and run up the score? Personally, after the struggles of the last two seasons to put away or keep up with the opponents I want a drop the hammer run the score up type game. Sorry guys, but yes it's off season, and I am bored. However I do respect, and like to read the opinions you Guys and Gals give. If, you're a Tater and want to respond please keep it clean, because God knows with that cupcake schedule you guys play that Dabo is gonna run that score and pat them stats. Thanks in advance. I just want to see us play hard for 4 quarters and look like a football team that has direction and wants to win. As long as we win and both sides of the ball play good, then I will be happy. Improve each game and try not to make costly mistakes.

I look for a very good year, but I look more for improvement to where we look like an SEC Team again. I believe in this coaching staff and what they are trying to do with the talent that they have now. We will get there.

I'm always for running up the score regardless of who we play.

College football and most notbaly the SEC is practically Minor League football now anyway.

If you don't want us to score then stop us.

Agreed. I've always found it disrespectful to stop trying to score on a team. get your young guys experience and reward upperclassmen walk-ons with some playing time, but score as much as you can as often as you can.

don't play to win, play to embarrass your opponent.

Sounds like a good problem to have & I certainly hope this IS an issue for us. I say, run your offense at full speed. Don't get conservative and don't play half-assed just because you think you have a game in hand. New regime & scheme need many, many reps. And besides, it's not our responsibility to NOT score - its the opposing teams requirement to STOP us. If that approach means we lay 50, 60 or more on any team....so be it!!

Highly doubt this will happen against Vandy. But keep your foot on the gas, starters or backups, doesn't matter.

Muschamp wont let off the gas. Its game 1 of his SC coaching career. If he wants to keep the respect of the players, he has to keep the guys playing hard and wanting to score more, not giving up because of a big lead

I'm all for it. As long as we aren't pulling any immature taunting crap then I say hit the gas and get as many points as possible. After the last couple seasons we can't look weak. No mercy for our opponents.

Their defense was sick last season and they got the same guy back running it, right? Not a question that will be keeping me up at night.

Yeah, Vandy's defense is too good, and our offense will probably not be good enough, for this to happen. I'm all for scoring as much as you can, though.

Their Defense is historically good, our offense will be very young, and it is the first game of the season. Defense has the upper hand early in the season.

I think we win because their offense is historically bad and I think our D will be really solid, but it will be low scoring. I don't have enough brain cells left to worry about a hypothetical that ain't gonna happen.
