    Default Potato Chips

It used to be that chips were chips. Now you have every flavor under the sun, some very good and others decidedly on the other end of the spectrum. Every grocer sells several brands and many varieties. This is a thread to separate the potato from the chaff as it were. Make your own? You can drop that here too. More of a cracker freak? Well, you can bring them to the party as well.

Wondering about the history of the chip? Here is the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potato_chip

Last year I posted a review of Tom's mustard BBQ chips. I still think that they are good: http://www.cockytalk.com/showthread.php?t=220599.

    Wise Onion and Garlic

These were just OK. Thin, crisp yet delicate. Flavor of cheap garlic powder and stale onion. Marie likes them but I avoid.

    Burt's Guinness Chips

These are mo betta. Thick hand cut chips that will stand up to a dip or good bowl of red. Anything that would be enhanced by the taste of Guinness would be a good pairing with is chip. I found them at World Market.

I like the wise products, and their regular chips are okay. Unfortunately, they don't have the same depth off flavor they had in the 50's. The product of old had a much more golden color and were a bit thicker. I attribute the difference in flavor to their probably having been cooked in an oil that would be considered "unhealthy" (more flavorful) by today's standards. Each bag had a little packet in it, which kept the chips fresh longer.

If you shop at Kroger, look for the Boulder Canyon chips. They are cooked in avocado oil and the sea salt & cracked pepper chips are honestly the best chips I've ever eaten.

    Anybody tried Man Dip?

I bought some of the Original Spicy sausage. I love it. Need a real chip to hold it though. It is heavy and delicious.

I'm not crazy about overly spicy food, but I've always liked the Bar-B-Qued
flavor chips. Most all brands, but Wise is my favorites.

I do however LOVE food with a "Twang". Slightly sour or vinegar taste. Love
stuff like Reuben Sandwiches. Sausage Dogs etc..... I usually splash on a dash
of Red Wine or Balsamic Vinegar onto plain Hot Dogs, or in Steak Sauce for the
Kick. Because of that, I've developed a taste over the years for Salt and Vinegar
Chips. Again, any good brand, but Wise is the preference.

I love a kettle chip from damn near any brand but jalapeņo flavored Wise and Kettle brand are my favorites.

Love the mustard chips from Toms and the Old Bay crab seasoned chips from Utz brand.
